Tuesday Update at 9:00 pm CT
Thank you for being so faithful to check the website and to keep up with how things are going with Heather! It blesses our hearts and her heart that you have continued to carry her in your thoughts and prayers!!!!! It has been a long 6 1/2 weeks, but we have been blessed. The cards and little gifts continue to come in the mail as well and we can't express how much we appreciate EVERYTHING!!!!!
It has also been another good day!! The doctor and the therapists met together and they all agreed that it would be in Heather's best interest to transfer her to Siskin Rehab Hospital in Chattanooga, TN. They have extended her therapy here at Stallworth until the 19th of March, in order to give the case worker time to contact the insurance and to get the transfer arranged. There is a lot involved in the process. Siskin has to accept Heather, and also have a bed open for her; and then we are at the mercy of the insurance carrier to allow for the transfer. There is a slight possibility that she could be transferred before the 19th if everything is approved quickly. If not, they will keep her here until everything is approved!!!!
Heather was able to stand for 20 minutes in the stand machine today. It has been years since she has stood up for 20 minutes. Now, I know that the machine was supporting and holding her up, but she was able to hang in there. Everyday you can see little improvements. She is just about finished with her ceiling tile, and she is very excited about it. It will be displayed in the gym as a reminder that Heather was here, and while she was here she made an impression on the lives of the staff as well as others.
This afternoon, we went across the street to the Children's Hospital where they have restaurants. Heather enjoyed a bean burrito from Taco Bell, but she really enjoyed leaving the hospital and getting outdoors. Until tomorrow......
"As for God, His way is perfect; the Word of the LORD is tried:
He is a buckler to all them that trust in Him." 2 Samuel 22:31
Heather got take a ride in her motorized wheelchair to the Children's Hospital
